Gah! ok, Jack or somebody help me D: Ok so iv finnaly decided to buy skyim but i need help picking a race! I want to play as like a swift and silent assassin. You know, sneeking around, assassinating people with knives/bow and arrow. But i also want to be able to take on people face to face, (because you cant be sneaky all of the time *cough* dragons) and at the same time i want to be mage-ish soooo to put it short i want to be - Swift and silent assassin MAINLY, who is also good with a bow. - I also want to be mage-ish. I want magic to be my go-to weapon. I love magic so i want it to be pretty important. - I also want to be able to take a hit. you know, be pretty defensive/good with a sword. I want to feel pretty confident when i face something head-on
Iv done some researching and i think that being the cat thing (i forgot the name but it looks like a lynx.) would be my best choice. But i heard that they are not that good with magic. My second choice would probably be the wood elf, and third, the lizard thing..Im not entirely sure, and i want some advice from someone who has played the game...

If you need to be sneaky ether kajit(the cat one) or argonian(the lizard one) would be a good choice.

I've never really found much difference in races,Other than the different abilities. After a while it wont really matter after you've trained your skills alot anyway. I usually pick Imperial because It's fairly well rounded at the beggining and the ability lets you find more coins than other races. So yeah. I'd Recommend Kajhit though.

Im just now starting to head towards the dark brotherhood so that i can join them, but before i do i was just wandering how do i level up my sneak perk/ability thing..it sometimes levels up randomly and sometimes doesnt and i dont know what i have to do

Ah! So like me? An assassin/mage. Ok, the race should be a Kajiit or a Dark Elf.
Starting stats for Dark Elves. +10 Destruction +5 Alchemy +5 Illusion +5 Alteration +5 Light Armor +5 Sneak
Starting stats for Khajiit +10 Sneak +5 Alchemy +5 One-Handed +5 Archery +5 Lockpicking +5 Pickpocket
I prefer a Dark Elf cause it has bonuses of magic and assassinations. As for your skill build Destruction, Sneak, Illusion. and if you want to add some archery and combat skills add a little in Archery and One-handed. But if your not going to use Destruction magic you can do Archery or One-handed
As for the perks your gonna grab all the perks for Sneak and Illusion cause that's your main focus. Go get the first perk of One-handed which is armsman and max it out and go to archery and complete Overdraw and get a few more perks. Go to the restoration tree and get novice restoration and regeneration. I really don't use destruction and alteration cause that will burn my mana easily but if you want to paralyze someone to get out of battle and heal yourself, then go get some alteration perks. After you picked all of that you can pick any perk you want for you character.(Note that I only picked the Important stuff that an assassin/mage need)
Stratergy For this type of scenario you will use a dagger and Illusion spells. All I do is when I have to go to like a dungeon and saw like a bandit camp, First thing I do is observer the area. If they are separated enough i can just cast my invisble spell and kill them of 1 by 1 with my dagger (Backstab them). If they are close to each other or if they are seated I just cast my Frenzy spell on the strongest guy and he will kill them all, then all you need to do is just finish him off. Or just cast your invisible spell and cast fear on them and they'll just run off.
For like an open field combat use a Bow then use your sword or a destruction spell like flames.
Armor is light
Leveling up stats for me is 3 magica, 2 health, 1 stamina cause your gonna need to expand your mana pool for casting spells.

hmm, i seem to have things under control now, but thanks anywase! i decided not to take the magic route this time with the assassin, and just stick t daggers and my bow and arrow, it feels a little cooler in my opinion than just casting spells and stuff...lol but yeah within one day iv already gotten to level 19, and my sneak ability is now all the way to 100 with all sneak perks unlocked haha and now im just trying to finish all the quests for the dark brotherhood

Hmm ok, so i am getting my berrings straight with skyrim, and iv put a good few hours into it, probably like 15 or 16 hours and im like level 28 or something. Anywase, i have pretty much completed beep beepassin/archer build, i only need to upgrade overdraw one more time, and to get to one where you can pull and arrow back faster. Anywase, i want to start working on a mage build however, i just dont really know if it's worth it.. I have joined the college of winterhold and i have used magic here and there and it doesnt seam to do jack on enemys.. I know that i have to train and stuff, but i watched some high level mage gameplay on youtube and it all seems to have the same damage or something (low) i mean, when i play as an assassin, i can kill people with only one shot from my bow 80% the time and the other 20% with 2-4 shots. Killing people with the blade of woe is almost always a one shot kill, so basically, as long as im not detected, i can clear a room in seconds without worrying about taking any damage whatsoever.. Anywase, Iv always thought mage's were really cool and i heard that they were really good but i just dont know if i should start investing in magic powers..I mean beep beepassin is working perfectly right now but i also want to be awesome with magic but like i said, is it really worth it? I have made up my mind to train the illusion tree because there are too many illusion spells to take advantage of as an assassin (invisibilty, harmony, frenzy, etc.) So i do know that i will train in illusion, but what about training the full scale, you know like a full out mage...Should i invest in being a mage, or a warrior/tank type deal..Mage's are way cooler and can do a ton more stuff, but if i invest in training warrior style, that means that i wont really have to worry when im in a big fight or against a boss or something, so what should i do?

Go for Mage. magic will help out a tonne with ancient dragons. Using frost magic I could take one down in a couple seconds.

Well if you're going to be an illusionist mage with no weapons you're gonna be beep, cause if your gonna be battling a dragon, your gonna get screwed. Like Jack suggested be a destruction mage, flames or frost. Or be a battle mage!

haha no what i was saying was im going to train illusion for beep beepassin role, you know like if i get to a big room with a ton of people who i cant assassanate them all, i could just use frenzy or something, so the illusion is part of beep beepassin build, not my mage build, what i meant was should i go all out for like destruction mage, or warrior, but i think im gonna go with mage even if it's not really worth it

What's a beeb beepassin anyway?

It's the auto replace. Any words that have been added to the filter are auto-replaced with "beep". So if you wanted to know fish would have to find a way to get around the censor.
